Our Day:
We never know what we are going to get up to, no two days are ever the same at Finca!
The children plan their day around the breakfast table and we 'story map' our thoughts. We head outside every day and most days this is straight after breakfast.
A large percentage of our time at Finca will be spent out in the great outdoors. Our day will typically start with collecting eggs, feeding the chickens, pigs and rabbits. This might then be followed by a walk to the orchard, pond dipping at the lake, tending to the veg patch, a walk to our woodland or even a little play in the hay barn!
Mid-morning, we will have a healthy snack - this could be at home, in the park or anywhere we may find ourselves on the farm. In the summer months our healthy snack is often some of our own home-grown fruit or vegetables.
After returning from our explorations, children have the option to explore the playroom whilst staff prepare lunch.
Early in the afternoon, we all tuck into lunch. Maybe we're old fashioned but we firmly believe eating should be a leisurely, social occasion where stories and thoughts are shared around the table or alfresco dining on the decking in the summer months.
The children will often be involved in growing and preparing their own food and this always brings a whole new dimension to eating!
After a busy morning we may have to fit in some naps and we all enjoy a quieter afternoon. We are flexible and can adapt to the children’s needs for nap times, whether that be nestled in some bean bags in the playroom, snoozing on a mat in our sleep room or catch 40 winks on the go in one of our all terrain buggies.
Our outside exploration area is the perfect place to let little imaginations run wild. With the Finca mud kitchen, sand pit, herb garden, construction zone and stage allowing the perfect opportunity for child-initiated play.
Healthy snacks will be provided during the afternoon, which will often be picked and prepared by the children.
